I prefer the gentle simplicity and realism of vol. 2, issues 16 and 17.

Thanks (for issue 16). I think that's my favorite. I was trying to set something up that was fairly simple, but flexible and easily identifiable. You could put different pictures in the center, and tint the scales around the outside different colors. (#17, ironically, was going to be blue dragon scales, but not quite as glossy as they were - I wasn't actually involved in #17 at all) Ron did the actual cover to my specs, since I'm totally useless with graphic software, and threw in this weird picture he'd taken of some trees in Hawai as a placeholder for a "real" picture.

Obviously, the picture was way too weird and way too cool to -not- use. ;)
