I am not surprised, nor am I offended, frankly I am shocked that it hasn't come out sooner, there are "For Dummies" books about EVERYTHING, poker, prowrestling, bass fishing, novel writing, tarot and fortune telling, astrology, weight managment, linux, Excell, EVERYTHING... note that "for dummies" books are not generaly written at a level for Dummies, they are written for otherwise intelligent people who have little knowledge of or aptitude for the subject matter... a fact that many people who have never read one of them do not realize because of thier name.

I'd say amused, not exactly frightening. Ok well still kinda scary with just the name. Wink

When I saw the solicitation for D&D for Dummies, I simply laughed. Laughing

This is the perfect book for parents wondering "what's D&D all about?", or for anyone else who is completely and utterly clueless.

I'm sure I will sell more than a few copies.

What happend to the good old days when the rest of the world thought Ad&d players were goat worshiping satanists that sacrificed virgins at everygame and were out to corrupt the children.

At least then Ad&d wasn't a watered down pop culture joke (I just saw an old Friends episode that had a Ad&d ref in it and I almost threw up)

Don't complain; it is easier to worship goats, sacrifice virgins and corrupt children when they don't suspect it is true.

Too true. Now, where is my samurai sword. I need to get back to hunting my friends hiding in the tunnels underneath my local college campus. Don't worry. A mind flayer said I could do it, so it's OK.

We laugh and we joke, but what if this is the largest selling D&D book ever?

D&D players never sacrifice virgins--that would cut into our player base. :)

-Speak for yourself. I was sacrifing children, worshipping virgins and corrupting Satan. But, to each his own...

In July of 1986, I found a little paperback that was called something like What is D&D? It was actually an intersting read, explained everything A-Z. The fact that someone saw me reading it was the spark that eventually resulted in the creation of my present group (well, what's left of it).

There was another one (much bigger) than must have come out in the late 90s. It covered most of the RPGs of the time, and had a lot of the historical background EGG, Arneson, Blume, Kask, etc.

Maybe I should buy a copy and peruse it just to see if I can find answers to any of my numerous questions. Happy I am sure Cebrion would like that. Laughing

And for the record, if 'we' sacrificed virgins, I think it is safe to say that most (ALL?) of us would've ended up dead, right on the spot! Yes, present company included...until...well, that doesn't really matter... Wink

The main question is this. How dumb do you have to be to qualify reading this book? Shocked Laughing
