On Ehlonna

Good post on the CF Discord by Norker that MTG asked I repost here for posterity:

Further thoughts on Ehlonna's maiden purity and fertility cult:

Ehlonna is forever a virgin, ever-full of the power of life inherent in the loam of the Oerth, able to bring forth verdant growth without base and carnal congress. The sage Allowyl of Dyvers posits that Ehlonna began as the genius loci the great woodland belt that once stretched unbroken between the Kron Hills and the Sea, a being akin to the dryads and nymphs, and evolved into a 'lesser' Power over the millennia. Lestwick of Hardy maintains Ehlonna was born a goddess, sprung from the Womb of the Oerth with no other parent.

It is accounted in legends and myths that where Ehlonna walks the Oerth, she may leave either no trail at all or a trail of wildflowers. Such foot-blossoms can spring up of season, even in deep snow or through the paving-stones of a city street or castle courtyard, and these blossoms may possess creative properties or blacken in the presence of undead or Evil beings. Even the blood of beasts spilled in Ehlonna’s hunts may bring wild red roses from the ground.

Fools and heretics who doubt the goddess’s virginity have but to consider her close association with unicorns, known to befriend pure and Goodly maidens and accept no other riders.

Herbalists and midwives often call on Ehlonna’s aid, which the Power provides by subtly guiding these supplicants to the location of healing plants and granting them the wisdom to discern hidden ailments and bodily perils.
