There was an example in the blue rule book of a place called Skull Mountain. Is that the only place it is mentioned or was it fleshed out somewhere else too?
I just bought this book and was surprised to see so much of it written as if it was AD&D levels 1-3 since I used to have the boxed sets from 1981 which change the rules away from AD&D a bit.

Yeah, the blue monochrome cover Basic Set (J Eric Holmes, editor) holds an awkward and unique place in the categorization of early D&D materials. Rather than form the basis of what continued on as Basic D&D, the Holmes set stands alone as a sort of 'basic ad&d', combining concepts from the earlier original D&D pamphlets/books with ideas that were being used in AD&D around the same time.
As far as your main question, I don't know of any official (TSR published, that is) material that details or expands the Skull Mountain sample dungeon, but here's a link to fan material that does:

I had done some searching but hadn't seen that thread before. It's interesting how I directed my concept of the dungeon in a totally different direction.

Chatdemon, I'm guessing by that cross section that the players have to "drop" into the seventh level?
Bring an inflatable raft sort of thing? _________________ Mystic's web page: http://melkot.com/mysticscholar/index.html

"Marshal, Will, and Holly.
On a routine expedition."
There are quite a few adventure locales that have a similar feature. _________________ - Moderator/Admin (in some areas)/Member -

Another thread, connecting the mountain with Holmes' novel Maze of Peril.
