Postfest XIII(Brewfest 2009): Greyhawk Villains & Foils!

Welcome to Postfest XIII(Brewfest 2009): Greyhawk Villains & Foils!

The topic of this Postfest will center all of the despicable characters that populate the World of Greyhawk, from the lowliest gang tough to the most despicable of rulers– all villains are on the table here! While it is not a hard and fast rule, it is recommend that you cover a Greyhawk Villain that has not been covered before, or that has been covered very little. Better still, introduce a new villain of your own! Please post what you will be writing about in this thread. Duplicate topics are okay but we would like to keep it to a minimum.

Now, on to the format. Your submission should be in the realm of 1,000-4,000 words or so in length. That is not set in stone, but it is a good average length for any Article. As usual, be sure to not only Spell Check your article but read it over yourself, as Spell Check will catch many things, but not always everything.

You may submit your article HERE. Be sure to write a short introductory teaser for your article and be sure to cite any sources you may have used as well. ***See the directions at the top of the Submissions page if you have any problems with the text not being accepted(this may happen if you use Internet Explorer). Even if the text is not accepted, *you must still submit your article title on the Submissions page*. When e-mailing an article to editors<at>canonfire<dot>com, be sure that your article is in simple Word form, with no formatting of any sort if possible(the simpler the better). This just makes things a whole lot easier for us to deal with, so please take the time to do this.

Make sure you put the title of your submission in the following format:

Postfest XIII(Brewfest 2009): TITLE OF YOUR ARTICLE

***Submissions are due by December 31st, the last day before Needfest begins.

Thanks.

One submission in already! Will the number of entries for this Postfest top that for Inns & Taverns???

We'll just have to wait and see. Wink

For some reason I kept picturing W.O.G. I was waiting for the cultists of Tharizdun to show up. I just wish you had a little more info on Uma-Keke. Not bad overall I just felt it was better suited as a comic strip given that the majority of the submission is between two drunks.

Hrmmmmmm...... Uma-Keke

My planned Villains

Well, since we're talking about cool villains, and whatnot ... I am planning three entries:

Menkris Dale - A Telepath (psion) that is both a Thrallherd and Illithdkin. He grows more evil and debased the further into Illithid lore he delves, and eventually undergoes apotheosis, and ceremorphosis voluntarily, and becomes an Illithid himself. Intended as a long-term foil for PCs and the article will include a level-prgression chart that gives basic stats for the NPC through 25th level.

Jarvis - A general BBEG that is striving for power. He's not that high level, but can be used at any point in a lower level campaign. He's following a minor prophecy that hints at an item of power. The article will include a written-out mysterious-sounding prophecy that the DM can adapt to his or her own campaign.

Tezznax - a Drow Cambion Demonologist. Toying with Demons is never good. Happy He is a very high-level BBEG, and has gathered his forces in semi-secret and is now coming out as a blatant force of evil. He claims ties to the Horned Society and openly states that he intends to reinstate their political and temporal power in the Flanaess.

I am already researching and writing outlines for each of these, and have begun preliminary writing on them. The first is an NPC that I have been writing for years and have 3 pages of artwork, 4 pages of character sheet, 6 pages of background and history, and 3 more of RP notes and development on him ... so, once I pare it down to something publishable, it ought to be really good!

I'll probably provide a write up for Lesser Boneheart Cranzer that updates him to 3.5 and examines his actions during the LG campaign (he was the BK's main bad guy).

I may also provide a 3.5 write up for the cambion Baron Kerzinen of Grazz't's court (from ItE), a shapechanging demon who assassinated Rookroost's ruler, impersonated him, and then faked his own death by assassination every few years to help maintain his grip on the city and to keep his enemies guessing.

Those both sound interesting, especially the second one, as I am wondering if you would use the Tome of Horrors 3.5 version of the cambion, or do your own conversion.

Once again the time is up. Any late entries may be submitted during the next few days. Congrats to those who had the willpower to submit an entry this time around. Laughing

The next Postfest topic will be posted very soon.

All Postfest entries that have so far been received have been programmed in, and will be appearing every two days, starting with the latest by bubbagump.

I'll be locking and moving this thread soon enough, so if you have any questions then post them here quickly.
