Fan art for wiki articles

What does everyone think of using fan art for those articles in which the subject has never been depicted in an official source? I've seen some really great stuff in the Oerth Journals, and in other places, & I think using it would help the wiki. Normal conventions would still apply, of course (crediting the artist & naming the source, as well as noting that the image was fan-created). This might be akin to allowing "fanon" on the wiki, but in cases where no "pro" artwork is available, I'm inclined to be okay with it.

I think that would be okay, assuming proper credit and, probably, permission from the original artists is gained.

I don't think any real Greyhawk fan would object and would actually be enthused and excited by the idea, especially with Rasgon's conditions in place.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Using fanon artwork

I absolutely agree with you guys ... there's almost no chance that if an artist was asked, and credited, that they would say no to having their art published on the GHWiki ...

In fact, I would even think that it would be a cool idea if artists were asked to do womething specifically for the Wiki. That might take a little more convincing, but, I would hazard a guess that there's plenty of good "fanon-art".

... and the first person to shorten that to "f-art" gets a whack on the noggin!! Laughing

I know this is an old thread but I figured it's still relevant, especially with the A-Series Art Contest going on!

Anyways I found this piece of Greyhawk artwork on DeviantArt by nJoo. It shows followers of Wee Jas and was for Dragon Magazine. I love it and I wondered if we could maybe try and get the artist's permission to include it on the wiki?
