Grimm

I live really close to Portland, Oregon where this series is shot. I watch it almost religiously since it began last year and have to admit that it is growing on me. The new season premiere started (Monday, I think) and will show again on Friday. The premise is interesting, and though some of the special effects are a bit weak at times (overall, they are good, given it is TV and not a large budget movie), I like the variety of creatures they show. I wonder how many of these actually have a basis in folklore and mythology, and how much is just made up for the show.

Anyone else out there watch it? Please offer your opinions, whether you like it or not, and why.

Curious,

I have seen the advertisements, but I think I must have seen them at the movie theater because I can't seem to find the show on tv out here in Iowa. What company shows it (ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox)?

I love GRIMM (even if I think August is too early for the new season to start). It has just the right balance between horror and humour, and I would love to see a campaign based on the game in some system!

I never watched the show, though I have seen the commercials. I want to see it if only once though I rarely watch tv shows nowadays.

I did not watch this weeks episode. However, I've watched several episodes from the first season this week.

The chemistry between the Grimm and the werewolf character is good. There are some good chuckles between the two. Though I would understand if thee werewolf character tried to kill Grimm.

After all the Grimm is a pain in the arse, sometimes.

I am interested to see how much longer Nick (the Grimm) is able to cover up his tracks with his secret life...he dodged that bullet (figuratively) this past episode.

I'm intrigued about this secret organization pulling strings in the background, and if the Captain's back story...he's obviously NOT one of those shifter beasts, but he's also obviously not just your ordinary human either...

The Captain human,

But he is definitely schooled in the supernatural. Because if he's supernatural Nick should see him for what he is. That society might be human based worshippers or followers of a supernatural cult.

Perhaps the Grimm's were part of this group and that's why the group wants the Grimm's eliminated. Can't have outsiders ruining our plans for the world.

Yeah, Captain Renard is definitely schooled in the arts of the supernatural, and I also suspect that he is/was a member of this secret society (a la Illuminati). However, there's more to it than meets the eye (yes, Transformers quote) with Renard. He hasn't made a single move against Nick, whom he knows is a Grimm. In fact, he seems to covertly support him. Unless it's one of those 'keep your friends close, but enemies closer' situation...

I haven't had a chance to see the series, but from your descriptions of Captain Renard, I wonder if he could be a Van Helsing. Confused

Actually he belongs to one of the royal houses. Watching last season. Now I understand why the captain wanted Nick's aunt dead. She was probably breaking away from the Grimm's long standing alliance with the royal houses.

Yeah,

It seems my thought's on the captain are true. He needs or believes the Grimm (Nick) is valuable piece to his puzzle. He is at odds with his family over how to go about Royal affairs.

Lanthorn, watch the lastest episode and you should be able to piece things together.

On another note. That is the longest first season I have seen for any television series.

Just caught the episode that I missed on Monday. Disturbing rituals for those coyotls... Confused

It seems that Nick's secret is 'out' with his partner. Wonder how this will alter their working relationship.

Cruel twist of Fate with Juliette. Remembers everyone except poor Nick.

The writers decided it would make for an interesting plot twist. Nick went from wanting to tell Juliette about who is really is, and now he will face the dilemma again. Should I risk her life now that she has no memory of our life together. Talk about developing emotional turmoil! Wink

I equate it to the struggles Peter Parker has with his personal life and his alter ego Spiderman. He deals with emotional conflict all the time. This might be why I like the character so much, it just feels like a plausible outcome for a person in the characters position.

WOW, poor Nick. He's really been getting screwed over lately. Even though Adalaid (sp?) has 'lost' her hexenbeist powers, she has not lost her malice and cunning! I am enjoying the plot twists and turns, and we are learning more about Renard's background too.

Anyone catch last night's episode? It was the premiere of the new season. Sadly, this old man fell asleep on the couch and missed it... Embarassed

The new time slot has been a real bummer for me. I've not been able to follow many of this season's episodes. I wonder if it's been 'demoted' b/c of failing ratings...???

I saw part of the last episode.
Apparently there are these guys that can turn into monster-thingies!
(I hope that wasn't a spoiler!)
