Deadliest Warrior

I love this show when it aired (even though it has some biases), and think that it is returning, but not sure when.

Does anyone know?

What are your thoughts on the show?

It's the Sharktopus of historical reality shows. Happy No, seriously, I've watched a couple of episodes and there is some interesting stuff, but I hate how everything has to be a freakin' competition. Whatever happened to just profiling something and presenting interesting data? What I liked better, and I can't remember the name of the show, was the one where modern guys were given archaic weapons and had to figure out how to use them. There actually was a competition bit to that too, but I found all the information to be so fascinating I didn't care. Maybe I'm just down on Deadliest Warrior because that one time with the ninja or samurai dude, he was really super annoying. Evil Grin

Smillan, I can somewhat relate. I love the re-enactments of the protective capabilities of the armor, and the deadly power of the weapons. Again, what is hard to determine is the actual 'deadliest warrior' b/c of the human element involved. A weapon is only so good as its wielder's experience. Negating that factor is a bit tricky, but 'do-able' if they merely try to test the effects of various weaponry on targets, etc.

I am still pissed about the ninja vs. spartan. I think the spartan got kudos b/c of the Hollywood hype since "300" had just been released... Evil

Looking at a review of the episodes from season 1, I didn't see the ninja vs. spartan one. It was the samurai vs. viking episode with the really annoying samurai specialist. I hated that guy's whining so much that I blew a gasket when the samurai won. Plus, that freaking samurai would have needed a bag of holding to carry around all those weapons. I think any viking worth his salt would have cleaved that samurai's head open with an axe. Mad

I don't recall the actors/specialists in that particular episode, but I do know that the samurai katana is perhaps the finest sword ever fashioned.
