non-tarrasque versions?

Greetings~
I love the OJ, but I prefer having stuff in print and the backgrounds on the tarrasque versions sap up a lot of ink. Is there anyway to disable the background?
Also, Why doesn't OJ release a version without it anymore?

Thank you

Oerth Journals #1 - #18 are regular editions. Issue #19 began the dual format, and it continued to issue #25. While I think there are "tarrasque editions" for issues # 20 and #21, for some reason I do not have them and so they are not up. Issue #26 is sort of a half "printer friendly"/half "tarrasque edition" issue, as it has a good number color pages, but no backgrounds on most pages, and so was released "as is".

If you are worried about ink consumption, download the files to a disc and take them to a print shop (Copy Max, FedEx, and similar.) and have them print them up for you. It will cost less, and they will turn out better than home printed versions. They can even spiral bind them for you, if you want, and some places offer other binding options.
