Flanaess climate

From Wikipedia
Weather[edit]

Except in the far north, temperatures reach below zero only in the winter months of Sunsebb and Fireseek and sometimes at night in late autumn and early spring. Even then temperatures seldom dip far below 0. The northeast and central regions of the Flanaess are the coldest, with winters extending into Ready'reat and Readying. The warm currents of the Dramidj Ocean moderate the climate of the lands that border it. Summer typically lasts five or more months. Prevailing winds blow from the northeast in winter and autumn and from the southeast the rest of the year. Wintry northern winds are sometimes known as "Telchur's breath," while easterly winds are sometimes called "Atroa's laugh." Plentiful rainfall supports bountiful agriculture throughout most of the Flanaess.

Below zero. Fahrenheit or Celsius?

I'm thinking Celsius as it would appear that the Flanaess has quite mild weather.

What is 'far north'? The Pale is described as having two seasons... the unbearable winter and the barely bearable summer. So maybe north of the Nyr Dyv is far north?

The temperatures are in degrees Fahrenheit. North of the Nyr Dyv is a good point for what would be considered "The North". "The Far North" would be the nations along the northernmost border of the Flanness, where the harsh winter season lasts more than just the two months it does in The Pale. The Pale is known to be unbearably hot in the summer (the land is also somewhat infertile) and unbearably cold (and likely windswept) during the winter months.

Thanks. The Adventure Begins states Fahrenheit as the temp scale. It would appear Greyhawk has similar climate to SW Ontario.

0F= -18C We get spells lower than that but rarely for more than a few days. Summers not above 95F for any great period.

My DMs not much of ones to incorporate weather or even calendar days as a rule. Trying to get current DM to use a calendar. My Pholtan cleric role play would appreciate it.

It would appear the Pale is quite the land of extremes. Weather and religion wise.

The boxed set for Greyhawk that was published in 1983 (I think) has charts for weather and temperatures for all places of the world. I used them a lot back in those days when I was mastering PCs's travels all over Greyhwak to reach the next dungeons.
