I have the bright idea to string these two together in a Forgotten Realms campaign. However, for Greyhawk, what do you think? Yes, I'm putting Castle Greyhawk on the back burner for now. I'm currently running N1 Against the Cult of the Reptile God on the Paizo boards.
Orlane and the Forbidden City are on opposite ends of each other. One near Veluna and the other in Hepmonaland. Some possible Storytelling shenanigans:
Connect the two by a gate. Perhaps one in the Temple of Merrika. After the adventure in Orlane, gate the PCs to Hepmonaland. The gate just shortens the distance. Note, this is possible in our world. But in a World of Magic, anything's possible.
Have the players travel to Hepmonaland by ship. This is more realistic according to Greyhawk's supposed tech level (Medieval). Perhaps they didn't discover the gate, or couldn't pay to use the gate (the priests of Merrika could be asking for an enormous amount of gold to use the gate.)
As they travel to Hepmonaland, the group has a number of adventures designed to take them from 3rd level to 7th level, and still go by ship to Hepmonaland.
The last on the list is the one where I need help. I have a few adventures for that level range.
The party could get blown off course and become shipwrecked on the Isle of Dread. It is specifically designed for levels 3-7. You could have them adventure there until they have gained the level needed for your adventure in Hepmonaland, then acquire another ship (or other means) to make their way back to Hepmonaland.

And I do have a copy of the Isle of Dread. Thanks for the suggestion!
Just because the adventure is written up by the Rushmoors does not mean you have to run it there. Shift it and run it elsewhere.
If you grab Visions 2, I have an article on adapting the classic adventures for other starting eras with a few notes on moving them about.
In these forums, I have posted titled "TUNLUK" on turning the classic intro adventures into a rough sandbox with more notes on relocating them.
